I just bought one of these bikes. It is a 2012 retro with 17,000Kl. I have heard people say that they had to replace the clutch at 20,000Kl. Is that normal or have they been riding the clutch?

I understand that it’s hand built, but it’s hand built with all Chinese parts. This motorcycle should not cost more than 3500 brand new.

I have owned a Janus halcyon 250 for about 6 months. The bike is so different that anything you can buy new today. Ultra lightweight (250 lbs). Old school upright riding position, hard tail. The engine is a Honda design, modified by Husqvarna engineers at an Itallian company SWM and manufactured by a high quality manufacturer in China. Yes I wish the engine looked and sounded like my old Norton or airhead Harley but again weight and modern technology. Royal Enfields are more confortable but heavy and just another modern motorcycle. This is in a class by itself. Impossible to understand ulness you ride one, or a bike from 1920..... visceral

Are they a solid material or somewhat flexible/foamy?

So everything about this bike is terrible

I rode my Zuki GZ250 in the interstate. It was able to do 80 and bit higher on flats with no headwind. It seemed more stable than my 500cc bike.

7 months = 210 days. 1000 miles in 210 is 4.7 miles per day. That's about right for this bike.

You want an "old bike look" 🏍 🤔 buy a used Harley or 500cc Royal Enfield Bullet. For a third of the price. Kevin Phoenix ✝️

I typically ride 10,000 to 12,000 miles each year. Previously rode a Concours 14, now a Versys 1000 LT SE+. No way would I ever do that on one of these horribly overpriced show pieces.

Janus, for those with more money than brains.

Leather seat appears to be wearing down fast and fraying at the front edge. Surprised at using a cheap Chinese engine clone of a modern 70s Honda design and options of LED lights, etc. yet did not use a more practical, longer lasting and cheaper quality vinyl. A real BSA B25 had a 2.5 gallons gas tank and that gave me close to a 200 miles range instead of just 90 max. Just seems too many ownership issues for the premium price and feels like poor value compared to other otions out there, just for basically looks.

When viewing this bike from the right side with a rider on it, all that can be seen on the tank is the word anus, as the "J" is blocked by the knee. This will unfortunately give rise to endless snickers from otherwise indifferent onlookers.

Thank you for a really good and pretty thorough video! One question - What is the approximate real-scenario top riding speed of the Halcyon 250 (assume a 200 lb. rider)? I understand this is a small cc bike that is not meant for the highway. I'm asking in the context of back roads that are linked by two-lane (one-lane each direction, double yellow line in the center) connector roads with Route numbers and a 50 mph speed limit. Will the Halcyon 250 get up to and maintain 55 mph on these roads for 10 miles so one doesn't end up with a chain of frustrated cars trailing behind wanting to pass? Thanks.

A thousand miles! Nothing should have gone wrong. I put ten thousand miles on my Benelli Tnt135 last season with zero troubles. I've had BMW's with well over one humdred thousand miles with only routine maintenance. For a bike that expensive it better last awhile

They should put the 650 cc single cylinder engine from the old yamaha mt03s in this bike.

IF THEY ARE GOING TO MAKE RETRO CLASSICS THEN MAKE THEM . USE A BRIT PLATE ON THE FRONT FENDER INSTEAD OF THAT ONE USE A CLASSIC PEASHOOTER PIPE . USE A BIGGER HEADLAMP, MAKE A BROUGH SUPERIOR TANK REPLICA. OR A VINCENT TANK REPLICA THE TANK IS A REPLICA OF NOTHING THE PROFILE OF THE BIKE IS SLIGHTLY STUBBY. THE ENGINE SHOULD NOT BE BLACK UNLESS THEY ARE REPLICATING A VINCENT BLACK SHADOW , AND THEY ARE NOT. A GREAT CONCEPT BUT IF THEY ARE GOING TO BUILD CLASSIC RETROS THEN DO IT . THOSE LICENCE PLATES ON THE FRONT FENDER LOOK UN AUTHENTIC .

I have worked on a few of these. The engines are cheap chinese honda economy copies, they dont even have an overhead cam. 2nd gear always breaks, they rattle to death, and the front earles type fork on these is a deathtrap, happily slamming into the end of their travel and pushing upwards at the slightest touch of the front brake. Save your 7k-8k and buy a real motorcycle, not this ching chong motored abomination.

Get a Yamaha SR 400 for 1/3 the price. Better looking, better handling, better brakes and a durable proven motor.
